The Council is a non-governmental, non-profit organization and carries out its activities at the international level, the main purpose of which is to protect the social, labor, professional, economic and other legitimate rights and interests of employees, the rights and guarantees of trade union activity and to promote the strengthening of international trade union solidarity.
To achieve its goals, the Council carries out the following tasks:
- Ensuring interaction between the members of the Council in the field of trade union activity;
- To facilitate the establishment and development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the members and their constituent organizations;
- To promote the ILO concept of decent work and the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the region;
- Joint participation in the global campaigns initiated by the International Trade Union Confederation, the European Regional Council of Trade Unions and the General Confederation of Trade Unions;
- Participation in the development of integration processes and improvement of the regulatory framework in the social and labor and other areas related to labor;
- developing and presenting the solidarity position of the members of the Council in international trade union associations;
- expressing a coordinated position in international organizations when discussing labour issues (child labour, forced labour, etc.)
- Enhancing the role of trade unions in regulating relations between workers and employers and improving the effectiveness of measures taken in the interests of the people of work, including migrant workers and members of their families;
- Promoting labour and socio-economic rights and guarantees for workers, the development of gender policy in society and the strengthening of trade union solidarity.
